Bethany McLean is a financial journalist who, while writing for Fortune, published an early, prescient article questioning Enron’s finances under the headline “Is Enron Overpriced?” — helping to expose one of the largest corporate frauds in history.
She co-wrote, with Peter Elkind, The Smartest Guys in the Room (2003), the definitive account of Enron’s rise and spectacular fall, later adapted into an acclaimed documentary.
