Eric Jorgenson is an American entrepreneur and author who compiled The Almanack of Naval Ravikant, a widely read collection of Naval Ravikant's thinking on wealth and happiness.
Eric Jorgenson is less a traditional author than a careful editor and curator. The Almanack of Naval Ravikant — his best-known work — was assembled from years of tweets, podcast appearances, and public writings by entrepreneur and investor Naval Ravikant, with Jorgenson synthesising and organising the material into a coherent guide to building wealth and living well. Published in 2020, the book became a widely circulated text in startup and self-improvement circles, largely distributed for free in digital form before becoming a print bestseller.
The Almanack covers two broad territories: specific, leverage-focused thinking about how to build financial independence, and more philosophical reflections on happiness, desire, and the nature of a well-lived life. Ravikant’s ideas are often contrarian and aphoristic — the book’s format suits a reader who prefers insight in concentrated doses rather than sustained argument. Jorgenson’s curation is largely faithful and thoughtfully organised, though the book is honest about its nature as a compilation rather than an original work.
Critics note that some of Ravikant’s advice is most applicable to people who already have significant resources, education, and opportunity, and the book’s universalist framing occasionally glosses over those structural realities. Still, as a distillation of one of Silicon Valley’s most quoted thinkers, it is genuinely useful — and Jorgenson’s editorial judgment in assembling it deserves real credit.
